WHAT IS STUDENT-LED YOUTH MINISTRY?
Student-Led Youth Ministry™ is a time-tested and proven concept that can work in any church no matter the size or denomination. Youth pastors simply need to make the paradigm shift that as their young people are trained, they can also be trusted with the responsibilities of ministry just like adults. Teenagers then find that they are responsible for the successes of their youth ministry and that it’s not all up to the youth pastor and adults to make it happen.
After all, hasn’t youth group been a spectator’s sport for long enough?
This new revolution in youth ministry is an exciting approach that supplies the local church with something tangible to reach this generation. Together the youth pastor and the youth workers train and equip the youth to do the work of the ministry now. As the youth are trained, they discover their callings and become ambassadors of the Great Commission who follow, imitate, and pursue Christ. And as they grow, mature and experience hands-on ministry, they will experience God in a way that gives them confidence and enthusiasm to share their faith in their school campuses and community.
As you and youth workers train and equip the youth to do the work of the ministry now, your teenagers will:
• Begin seeing their youth group grow in numbers
• Develop a tight bond with the adults and other teenagers
• Begin to take ownership over their own ministry
• Find and use their gifts
• Attend youth group more often as they find their place
• Feel more valued by God, their peers and the church
• Begin to give more of their input for ministry
• Experience God using them now, making them less likely to leave the church after high school
• Become more committed as they are trained
• Begin to reproduce themselves
• Grow confident in God as they experience hands-on ministry
• Experience God in a new and personal way instead of leaders telling them what God can or will do in their lives
• Influence their generation because of their obedience
As students are trained, they become disciples who have a fresh and consistent walk with God for a lifetime, and in the future become better spouses, parents and citizens of their community.
